Gourmet chocolates from around the world.
No matter where you live, fine chocolates are as close as your computer and your mailbox. And if shipping is horrendous (I’m thinking Alaska and Hawaii, here), the cavalry has arrived in the form of Theobroma Chocolate in Sitka AK, and Teuscher Hawaii in Waikiki HI. So those in the far-flung reaches of the U.S. can enjoy lovely chocolates that may cost more than the price of shipping!
I admit to being a chocolate snob. I once struck a suitor off the list because he ate a piece of Lindor without first removing his gum. Well, there were other reasons, but I never forgot that faux pas—never told him, though. I would rather have one amazing chocolate than a whole box full of drug store stuff. And, being Swiss, I’m very, very picky about my chocolate. That said, I know we’re supposed to be talking about gourmet chocolates but I can’t help putting in a word for that yeoman candy box from See’s. It’s a hard-working little candy box and it contains hard-working little chocolates. I can’t help being partial to the milk chocolate Bordeaux. I’ll bet you have a favorite, too. And just in case they don’t have a shop or seasonal kiosk in your local mall, you can find them on the net. Did you know you can order a custom box? Just imagine, a whole box full of bordeaux bob-bons!
Back to the more up-market chocolates. This is where you will find the amazing creativity and beautiful presentations. As they discover how impressive chocolates can be, more and more people are gifting with chocolate. The truly magical thing about chocolate is its suitability for nearly all occasions. It’s as celebratory as champagne and even more universally appropriate. (There may be people who don’t drink champagne for whatever reason, but there is hardly anybody who doesn’t eat chocolate).
